Eat Healthy To Improve Your Productivity: A Guide To Healthy Packed Lunches

Eat Healthy To Improve Your Productivity: A Guide To Healthy Packed Lunches

We all know by now: eating healthy makes us feel good. However, we often find it difficult to apply this information to our daily food choices at home and at work. Most people really underestimate how much our lunch choices can influence our work efficiency, and if they knew, they would likely opt for more nourishing alternatives rather than grab some ready meals or quick lunches on the go. For this reason, we decided to write this blog article and discuss how healthy packed lunches can positively impact your productivity and make sure you get the most out of your workday.

      SLOW-RELEASE ENERGY

Have you ever wondered why excessive consumption of simple carbohydrates such as sweets, white bread and foods made with refined flours leads you to feeling tired? This is because these items have a high glycemic index, and rapidly raise the level of glucose in our blood. This leads to short, high-energy bouts that are quickly consumed by our body, and that is what leaves us drained and fatigued. However, opting for whole meal and unrefined bread, pasta and grains is the perfect way to avoid this from happening. The fiber contained in these foods slows down digestion, which means blood glucose concentration will stay stable across the day along with your energy levels. Add healthy fats, vegetables, and lean proteins to your meal to further improve the glycemic index of your lunch and help you stay energized through the day.

      MICRO, YET ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS

When we talk about nutrition, we always talk about carbohydrates, fats, protein, and fiber, but we often forget about the importance of micronutrients, mainly found in fruit, vegetables, grains, and nuts. Despite them being small (micro!) particles, they are super important for our health. Vitamins and minerals are what makes up this category and come in different forms and each has a different role, often interlinked with each other. These nutrients are essential for the correct functioning of our body, and a lack of fresh ingredients in our diet can slowly lead to deficiencies that can make us feel tired, fatigued, or simply make us fall ill more easily. Make sure to add a variety of colorful vegetables to your lunch to get in as many nutrients as possible. You could even have different sides to accompany your meal with (these insulated lunch boxes are great for this as they offer different sized boxes or containers with dividers) and make your lunch super exciting!

FOOD FOR THE STOMACH, FOOD FOR THE BRAIN

When prepping your lunch, you need to ensure you are using foods that are going to make you feel satisfied and full for a few hours. Fiber rich foods and lean proteins are a great way to bulk up your meals and make you feel full for longer. However, it is also important to implement foods rich in healthy fats in your packed lunch, such as oily fish, avocado, olive oil, seeds, and nuts. These items not only also help you feel full thanks to our hormonal response to their ingestion, but they also feed our brain. They in fact contain Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids, which support the correct functioning of our brain. So, if you want to have a sharp, clear mind and avoid brain fogs, these foods cannot be missing from your packed lunch!

These were the main reasons why we believe you should try give packed lunches a go. Not only they can make you save some money, but you also have full control over the nutritional content of your meals, and this enables you to make targeted choices aimed at improving your health, which will also directly impact your daily productivity.

Keep Yourself Hydrated While Hiking or Traveling

Keep Yourself Hydrated While Hiking or Traveling

When we have water constantly available to us it’s easy to forget how important it is to stay hydrated. It’s in those situations, when we have water available, that we postpone drinking it and tend to prioritize other tasks. However, the consequences of this can be felt very quickly. You just need to be slightly dehydrated for your body to stop functioning at its best.

When we are dehydrated, we get tired faster, have more problems digesting our meals, and may even feel stressed or anxious at the end of the day. So, if you are someone who easily forgets to stay hydrated during your normal daily routine, you will need to pay special attention to your hydration levels during a hike. When you go on a hike, you will be pushing your body more than usual, and even if you don’t feel thirsty, you need to drink more water to replenish the water you will lose.

You will need to take into consideration the temperature, which can make you sweat more, and the intensity of your hike. These factors will determine how much water you will need to drink every hour. However, you need to remember that even if it’s cold you will have to drink water regularly. A great tip to make sure that your hydration levels are on top is to start hydrating before going on the hike. You don’t need to drink two liters of water but starting to hydrate your body before physical activities will give you more energy from the start.

If you keep forgetting to drink water because water by itself isn’t appealing to you, you can replace it with other drinks, like juice or iced tea (with no added sugars, since this will make you more dehydrated). You can even add lemon juice or coconut water to your water. It’s a great way to increase your intake of vitamins and minerals, which in turn, will help you maintain your hydration levels.

The idea of making your water more fun is great, if it makes you drink more, but you should steer away from certain drinks. Coffee or other caffeinated drinks aren’t advisable to take on a hike. Though it might quench your thirst at first, caffeine is known to accelerate the process of dehydration. Sugary drinks aren’t advisable either for the same reason. Besides, added sugars will only harm your health, which is exactly the opposite of what you want to achieve by going on a hike.

Taking the most suitable bottle for the hike will be taking one step ahead at remembering to drink water regularly. It’s important to have a water bottle that can be easily stashed in your backpack, in a place with easy access and easy to drink from as well. That’s when our reusable water bottles come in handy. Many of our models have an insulated water bottle with straw which will make it easy to drink from. You will also have to put your water bottle in a safe place, to avoid leakage. While you always should have that in mind, these water bottles are leak-proof and spill-proof, making them ideal for when you are on the move. If you bring your children on the adventure, don’t forget about their own kids insulated water bottle. Our insulated water bottles with handle are the perfect choice for when you go hiking or are traveling. Since you probably won’t have fresh water at your disposal, these water bottles can keep your water cold for 24 hours and your hot beverages hot for 12 hours. It can be great for when you go on a hike on a cold day, as they can keep your hot beverage hot throughout the whole hike. Besides, since they are made of stainless steel, you are guaranteed to always feel the fresh taste of water.

Only when you are on top of your hydration levels can you enjoy your ride. You will have energy and feel less tired and more alert. And if you feel that these water bottles can help you with that task, don’t hesitate to choose the one that best suits you.
